David About Sarah:
I love Sarah for so many reasons. She’s the most generous, sweet, kind and genuine person I’ve ever known. It doesn’t matter if I’m happy, sad, grouchy or playful; Sarah unconditionally accepts me for who I am. She has a wonderful smile that I never get tired of seeing (and I try to make her laugh as much as possible so I can see it!) When I get stuck in a routine or start thinking too much “in the box,” Sarah is always there to help me break out of it and experience new things. She’s the yin to my yang, the beat of my heart. Any child who has Sarah as a mother is the luckiest kid in the world!

Sarah About David:
Why do I love Dave? He is my best friend, my confidante, my rock, and my home. I can always count on him to give me his honest advice, with a good dose of humor mixed in. Dave makes me laugh when I think laughing isn’t possible. He is my strongest supporter in everything that I do. He is kind, thoughtful, and has our goals in mind in everything that he does. I know that he will be such a supportive and loving dad… I am so lucky to call him my husband!
Adoption In Our Lives
In 2010, we went on a trip to Italy (which was fantastic!) and decided then that we would start trying to make a family. While we had the time of our lives in Italy, we had no idea that we would be enduring 3 long years of infertility. After a year of trying, we both received fertility testing and no issues were found; we kept trying despite the heartbreak that this caused every month when our hopes were dashed. We were married in April 2011, and later in the year we decided that we would seek the assistance of a fertility specialist. Despite the hard road to fertility we experienced, our specialist believed we had a chance; however, the treatments didn’t work. We decided it was time to pursue adoption. We see adoption as an opportunity to not only meet our dream of becoming a family, but also to give a child who needs a home the best opportunity to realize their full potential. We so much look forward to meeting our son or daughter, getting to know them, and loving and cherishing them for the rest of our lives.
Dave and I have shared interests as well as things that we pursue on our own. We both love art, music, and history and when we go out it tends to be for an activity related to one of these topics. Music is a very big part of our lives; this was how we got to know each other, is through sharing our favorite songs and bands. This shared love continues to enrich and inspire us. We love just about any kind of museum, and often go to new exhibits. We also love being outdoors; we go on walks every day with our dog, Juneau, and enjoy going for hikes during the summer and fall. When we aren’t out and about, we love spending time at home reading, watching movies, and enjoying meals together. As far as individual interests go, Dave is a huge sports fan; he looks forward to the start of football season every year. Sarah loves crafts and baking, and often makes Dave cookies and dessert breads. We look forward to sharing our love of these experiences with our child, and sharing in their journey of discovery of what interests them the most.
Our Extended Family
We are lucky to have so much family close by. Dave’s mom and both of Sarah’s parents live in the metro area, so grandparents will be close by and are eager to take on baby-sitting duties. Dave’s dad lives in Texas, but we visit at least once a year with him and his wife. Sarah has 3 brothers, all of whom have their own families; 2 brothers live in the metro area and we get together often with them for birthdays, holidays, and just to have fun. Dave has 1 brother and 1 sister, both of whom live in the metro area as well. Dave’s brother has an older daughter who lives in Iowa, but we usually see her twice a year for visits and holidays. Dave’s sister has a family of her own and we see them often for holidays, birthdays, and also having fun. Everyone in our extended family is so excited for the new addition to our family, and we can’t wait to introduce them to their 5 male cousins and 1 female cousin. There are 3 recent births amongst our siblings, so our child will also have the luxury of growing up together with cousins close in age.
