Adoptive Parents:
Criteria
-
The Agency requires
that you be over the age of twenty-five, and under the age of fifty at the
time that you sign the Pre-Placement Agreement with The Agency.
-
Adoptive parents are
required to complete adoption training and education prior to finalization
of their adoption.
-
If you are
first-time parents or have children over the age of five, you are required
to attend newborn child care classes and submit a statement of attendance
from the instructor.
-
Many birth parents
request updates about their child to assist with the grieving process and to
confirm their placement decision. Therefore, adoptive parents are required
to provide The Agency with non-identifying letters and quality photographs
of the child on a monthly basis during the first three months after
placement. After the first three months, pictures and letters are required
to be sent at six months and at the twelfth months after placement. Further
contact can be agreed upon by you and the birth parents.
-
You must agree to make
yourselves available for monthly post placement telephone calls and/or
visits until finalization of your adoption.
-
Pediatrician's reports
are required from each doctor’s visit until the adoption is finalized.
-
Any past criminal
history must be disclosed in the Pre-Application.
